The Time We Spend

·

We’re here for such a short time, no one knows how long we have, or what we are supposed to do here. For the most part, it seems pointless, especially when we get stuck in the mundane, repetitive nature of human existence. Money, Sex, and Power: these three things drive the majority of Americans. I was in Vegas recently, walking in and out of the bright and shiny casinos, gambling, drinking a few cocktails, and watching, watching the people and their desires, their emotions and how erratic they are. Not aware, in my high and mighty state of observation, that I was getting sucked in. The more I drank, the more I wanted to Fuck, Fight, Gamble, and Drink. After stumbling to my room and reflecting on the emptiness I felt (and I’m not just talking about the paucity in my wallet), I began observing what had just transpired. As the booze began to wear off, I began relaxing, and as the room stopped spinning, I began transcending, maybe in to a dream, or it could have been caused from the fish I had earlier that night, I do not know……. Floating above, I felt like an alien looking down on a species focused so intently on illusions, fear and desire, hate and lust, that no matter if they “won” or “lost”, they sank further and further in to sadness and depression. I feel as a culture we have been bombarded with Sex and Violence to such a mind numbing point that we have forgotten how to love not only ourselves, but each other completely, and unconditionally. Driven by our baser instincts, the majority of us have become sheep, driving the gears of ignorance that perpetuates us to our ultimate downfall. No, I am not talking about war, not even death, our ultimate down fall is returning to the trees. We seem to be digressing in to such an ignorant and selfish state that we are devolutionizing. Sure, we are more technologically advanced that we have ever been, we are even more intelligent, but on a spiritual and emotional level, we seem to be retarding to such a point that our fears are taking over where love and light should be prevalent. Balance is the key, and we need to jump on the other end of that see saw and stabilize that son of a bitch back in to its rightful place, before we allow our ignorance and self loathing to procure a strangle hold on our society to the point where its choking us back to the fucking stone age.
