Kids: A Necessary Generalization

·

This is a subject I have wanted to tackle for quite some time now; it involves the pseudo-punk music movement that has been plaguing the youth since the late 90’s. It has inspired America’s younger generation with songs of hope, but is secretly turning them in to the very thing, which they have so fervently stood against.

What use to be cool is now lame, and what use to be lame is now cool. This superficial rearranging of attitudes on the idea of what is “in” has been force-fed to the youth. That’s right! Kids have been brainwashed by their peers, culture, the independent and established music labels, to accept a style of music that lacks soul, and which induces a smug attitude toward anything else that does. Why is this so??? It is simple, Economics dictates that what is fashionable, is an easy sell.

In the beginning, the independent music label was honorable, its aim was to free the music by taking it away from the larger labels, and allowing small creative bands and artists to be seen and heard. For a while it thrived and all was good. But now its come full circle, corporate America realized that the youth were infatuated by the Indy labeled music. Slowly it sank its teeth in to scene, injected its venom. Its poison has turned what was once beautiful into something superficial and now, Indy “stylized” music rules the airways.

Its not just the music that has suffered this bite, its poison has trickled its way down and is now festering inside the minds of our youth. This toxin is draining the spirit out of them; and robbing us of our free thinkers. The symptoms from this poisoning are a false sense of rebellion, and a weak mind, and eventually, dropping on all fours, and turn into a sheep.

It is understandable and inevitable that having a strong anti culture for what is perceived as control comes with the territory of being young, every generation goes through this necessary transformation from child to adult… but now there’s a difference, since music itself has lost its soul, and the carbon copies of carbon copies that the music industry, including the indy labels, are pumping out like cheetoes, mind fuck the youth into believing that that is the only food available. But now, the market is so saturated with this processed junk food, that there is no other source of food available for the youth to ingest. This type of manipulation makes people easy to control, and turns artists mind, flaccid.
