What factors went into you deciding to pursue music beyond the usual passive listening?
I never really decided to start writing songs, it just sort of happened one day when I was learning the piano.
How did you go about writing the music for Trance?
The album name 'Trance' is actually a comment on music and my songwriting style. When I write music it seems to "flow" through me from somewhere else and when this happens I'm not aware of anything else that goes on. It's like a natural high!

Have you ever considered performing in a group rather than solo?
Actually, just this week I found a guitar player and a drummer. I have another friend who is great at the bass. We are going to start practicing very soon so hopefully we can be ready for our show with Digital Black and others on the 29th of July at the Grind.
When did you first begin playing a musical instrument?
I began the drums when I was about 7.
What is Willow Tree Records, and why is it so terribly difficult to find information about them online?
Lol, Willow Tree is actually my own label. I had some offers from some indie labels around the country but in the end I decided to be strictly DIY for several reasons...
What are your thoughts on new media (the internet--blogs, MySpace, et al) and its relation to music?
Without the Internet I wouldn't have nearly as many fans. Especially because I've been a solo project up until now, and haven't done very many shows. Myspace is my main promotional device.
If you were given a chance to form a supergroup (with you as a member,) who would you recruit to play -- and what would they play?
Edge from U2 would play lead guitar; Chris Martin from Coldplay would cover piano; I would play the drums; Ben Gibbard from DCFC would do bass; Jesus Christ on vocals.
How does religion and spirituality influence your music?
A lot of my songs have spiritual themes. I'm very sad that hate and other evil themes have been included as main factors in many types of music. I try to focus my music on the opposite of that; love, peace, concern for other living things...
The main religions that have influences on my music are Christianity, Buddhism and Mormonism (which is a form of Christianity).
