The latest from Jon Crocker, Death, starts with "State Route 17," a showcase of Jon's passionate songwriting. Having played the whole of the instrumentation (as well as having issued all the album's vocals,) it is evident that Jon Crocker is a skilled individual, to put things lightly.
Of course, painting Jon Crocker as a skilled musician isn't quite enough; his MySpace profile offers his services as an explorer, noting "Are you looking for someone to lead your expedition? Look no further!" He goes on to describe a variety of skills, all of which seem they would be useful in situations in which you would desire an expedition leader.
Jon seems to be a travelled person; his warbling voice and multi-instrumentalist skillset contribute to such a perception. He relies on his acoustic guitar and voice to carry most of the music, but isn't afraid to embellish with a banjo or harmonica, among other various instruments.
Death, as a conception, is something Jon takes with a certain light-hearted attitude, as is evidenced by his presumably fake, and certainly humorous "Last Will and Testament" included in the album's packaging.
Jon Crocker's folk style Death embodies is ultimately successful, undoubtedly due in no small part to the experience he, personally, has had with the world -- and what better way to convey your travels than through music?
